Bandai Figure Rise Green Haro
The build focuses on creating a detailed green Haro model with a fully painted interior, which will be visible through a clear green outer shell rather than the solid green option. The process begins by priming the core interior and initial panels with both matt and satin black primers. This dual-priming technique is used to achieve unique colour variations when metallic paints are applied, as the same metallic shade (like “burnt Aluminium”) appears differently depending on the underlying finish.
Once the primer is cured, metallic shades, primarily steel and titanium ,are applied to the inner core, with additional metallic colours used on smaller panels to create visual contrast. While the core dries, attention shifts to the “feet” of Haro: these are primed, then painted with gunmetal grey and steel, while the joints are left unpainted to maintain smooth movement. Some sanding and filing are done to ensure the adjustable pins fit properly.
The inner body receives three main metallic shades, followed by bright green highlights and panel lining to make details stand out. Vallejo “Xtreme Metal” pale burnt metal is used for the main core, with “Escorpena Green” acrylic as a panel liner and highlighter. Additional panels are painted in gunmetal with the same green highlights for consistency.
As assembly progresses, the effect of the metallic shading becomes more apparent. The arms are painted similarly to the feet, but the moving pins are left unpainted to avoid stiffness. The hands are not attached at this stage to allow for later painting. Care is taken with the small Haro, as a part breaks during removal from the sprue and must be repaired before painting in duraluminium.
Leg sections are installed, and mechanisms are checked for smooth operation. The front inner body section is fitted carefully to ensure all pins align, with some resistance noted due to paint thickness. For the eye section, a brighter metallic (stainless steel) is used for the inner part and pale burnt metal for the outer, matching the main frame. This detail is only visible if the outer shell is removed.
